Bali Pro 2018 – World Surf League Elevating Indonesian Marine Tourism

World Surf League Corona Bali Protected 2018. But, it is not just surfers frothing over the showdown among some of the world’s top surfers. Indonesian government officials are also stoking about the sport. The competition has run from 03 June through 09 June. It is one of the eight WSL events in Indonesia in 2018. The other seven are qualifying series (QS) events. Two QS events have run earlier this year in Sumatra at Krui, Lampung and Mentawai. The remaining events slate for West Sumbawa, Nias, Cimaja, Mandalika, and Simeulue. Thus events should run between June and September 2018. Meanwhile, Bali is the WSL Championship Tour’s fifth stop. There are 33 male surfers and 18 females are battling out on the surf.

The Corona Bali Pro Support World Surf League – WSL Bali 2018

The Corona Bali Pro is fully supported by the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism. It is a move to reflect the government more recently acknowledged tactic of selling Indonesia as a surfing destination to attract more foreign tourists. Not only surfers need to be told that Indonesia’s full of world class breaks. However, the government quickly use surfing as a selling point for tourists. “Indonesia is a paradise for surfers around the world,” said Indroyono Soesilo, an advisor to the Ministry of Tourism for the acceleration of marine tourism. “Our country has a lot of potential (for marine tourism) that can be used to attract travelers from abroad. The government sees great potential for surfing. So, we are working with WSL and supporting events to hold in Indonesia starting this year,” Soesilo say on Sunday.

He has added that the government even believes that they can use surfing to draw more tourists and help achieve the national foreign arrivals target of 20 million for 2018. “We expect that marine tourism can contribute four million to the target of 20 million foreign tourists. We see that surfing has great potential become a foreign exchange earner,” Soesilo add. A great thing about having surfers as tourists. Because, they will stay longer in Indonesia. The shortest foreign tourists to stay in Indonesia are coming from China. Surfers who come from Hawaii or California can stay more than 2-3 days on average, says Soesilo. “Just imagine, if four million tourists come on average and spend US$1,000, there will be US$4 billion coming through the marine tourism sector,” he said.

World Surf League Corona Bali Pro-Change to Corona Bali Protected

This event previously called the Corona Bali Pro. However, this year is the first time the competition run under the new name, where “Pro” has changed into “Protected”. Keramas marks the start of an environmentally-focused initiative, aiming to tackle the threat of marine plastic pollution. The changes in World Surf League event will run deeper than just a name update. It will include aspects like beach clean-up, educational talks, and the use of eco-friendly products. Let’s hope the government takes notes and commits just as hard to plastic pollution problem-solving. Because, it has raked more foreign arrivals.
