Bunut Bolong West Bali is a unique banyan tree with a big hole on the bottom of the tree located in Manggisari Village, Pekutatan district, Jembrana Regency. It is about 11 km to the north from the main road from Denpasar to Gilimanuk, or 86 km from Denpasar. The word “Bunut” is coming from the Balinese word for a big tree that is the same species as the banyan tree, and the word “bolong” means “hole”. So the word “Bunut Bolong” means a Bunut tree which has a hole in it. This Banyan Tree has famous among tourists from all over the world since this site is appointed as a tourist destination in the western part of Bali.

The rain forest are expanding in the west side of this tree to offer the fresh atmosphere and peaceful ambiance.

Bunut Bolong West Bali or Bali Hollow Banyan Tree Story

Bunut Bolong story according to legend that there is a big stone when Dang Hyang Sidhi Mantra conducted a meditation in this place. The local people who seen him and honor him then build a temple at this site. Manggissari Village had been founded around 1928 where the villagers who living in north of Bunut Bolong Tree got some strange disaster where they have been attacked by plague. After having the “Pewuwus” (instructions) obtained from Pura Bhujangga Sakti that the people must move living to the south of the tree and the local people agree, then slow down the village condition is back to conducive.
