Serijong Temple to Present Sacred West Bali Temple

Pura Luhur Serijong or Serijong Temple is one of secret West Bali Temples set in the tranquility of Antap Village, west part of Bali. It is a beautiful temple set on the hilly rock with big hole underneath as well as overlooking to the magnificent view of Indian Ocean. This is beautifully designed with Balinese architecture made from black lava stones surrounded by pure natures and tropical trees in particular coconut trees. Serijong Temple is blessed by the breathtaking view of spectacular sunset and surrounded by fresh tropical atmosphere. Meanwhile, we need 2 hours drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport or approximately 60 km from Denpasar city.

Firstly, the story of Serijong Temple is interesting to know, that in ancient times there was residents who mostly live on the coast. Furthermore, those people saw a bright beam of light emerging from the rocky shore. The the local people built a temple right in the emergence of light, where until now known as Serijong Temple. Serijong Temple is built around the XVI century BC, almost simultaneously with Rambut Siwi Temple construction in Jembrana and Tanah Lot Temple in Tabanan. God Baruna as the manifestation of Almighty God worshiped in this temple.

Serijong Temple – West Bali Temple on Beach

The position of Serijong Temple is right on a large stone cave. Moreover, according to the local people that stone existing at the end of this cave resembling Padmasana. Meanwhile, Padmasana is a place to worship the God for Balinese Hindus. The cave is also as a home of thousand bats and come out together at the end of sunset. If we visit on the right day and lucky, then we could see thousand bats flying out from the cave.
